    In the recording studio

I had a chance to shoot two of three members of a local band while they were working on their new album in a recording studio. Definitely not ideal shooting conditions. I shot everything with a strip box and a reflector.

I asked about that - the group is a guitar, drummer and piano. The guitar tuning is a bit odd and the 7th string is to produce some of the low notes that one would normally get from a bass. The guitar is custom; so was built to his specs.

Thanks for the info. His style looks familiar, I use thumb and forefinger a lot too. Some call it "claw-pickin" down here.

The bass viola da gamba has mostly had seven strings since the 18th century and is a tuned similarly to the guitar (but not quite the same). It used to be known as a bowed guitar.

These pictures are really well done, especially given the shooting conditions.
