I downloaded it to have a look-see: it's the Standard version which has very limited capability (unless you are looking to upgrade your RAW processing which I guess many/most of us here are not). It appears that the whole purpose of the "give away" is to entice you to purchase the Elite version.

It's an excellent piece of software; Donald and I are longtime users.

The Optics Pro noise reduction algorithms are the strongest out there and when I have a noisy image, that is what I use for raw conversion.

    Manfred

I have a friend who swears by it for denoise and dehaze applications. However, these are not included in the free package and I'm not sure that it is worth the hefty price tag for the Elite version, for all the use I'd make of these two features. I'll give the 30 day free trial version a run and see.

I wondered what was going on. Wondering if we were about to see v12 launched or whatever. I had forgotten that there are two versions of the software.

Yes indeed Bill, not having the denoise and dehaze tools would make it sort of worthless.

Manfred and Donald, sadly the 30-day free trial is for the cut-down version. I'll think about it, but with the good reports from you and from my friend I expect to weaken eventually ...

How often do they release new versions? (Question triggered by Donald's comment on V12 possibility).

    Hello Russel,
I have been thinking about if DxO should create an offer like this once again. Thus I appreciate your hot tip.

It had of course been much better and interesting if they this time would have done - as they have done before. That is to offer the previous version of the Elite version. In this case DxO version 10 Elite.

Thanks again for this information Russel.

I downloaded this free offer of Essentials (free, not a trial) and find it to be a very creditable piece of software, not only easy to use 'Auto' mode but quite powerful manual adjustments.
I haven't made up my mind about upgrading to Elite as I don't really need Clearview and I have Topaz Denoise and Nik Define for noise reduction if I need extra.
It might takeover from Bridge though as my goto starting point.
