Now that fresh corn on the cob has become available in my area this week, I look forward to enjoying it regularly and often in the coming months.

Setup
The background is black velvet. A medium continuous-light lamp fitted with a diffusion sock to reduce its brightness is on the rear left. A black card between it and the camera eliminates flare. A white reflector in the right front area redirects light from the rear lamp onto the right front area of the corn. A small continuous-light lamp on the left brightens the kernels and defines their shape by creating shadows on their right. A flash unit set to low power in the right rear area and above the scene back lights the top leaves and some of the silk. A black card placed between the flash and camera eliminates flare. A reflector at a 45-degree angle to the tabletop in the left front area and above the scene redirects light from the flash onto the brown area at the top of the silk.
