Winter sunset

I tried ND and DNG filter yesterday and I did some normal shots
I was helped by the sea (rough enough, not too much) and the sun
I discover the issue of magenta coloration due to bad quality of the borrowed filters made in China.
I'll invest in Cokin filters as Lee ones are too expensive
But for a first test I'm happy; I'll do better next time

Hi Jean I especially like the color images as I can feel the power of the sea better. I envy all of you because you have time for shooting. I still couldn't settle down in my new area , actually I might be buying a new house and moving again next month because the rents are horribly high where I live I hope it will be easier this time because my new house will be near my current location. So, I'm hoping to catch up with CinC soon.

Regarding the Cokin filters, I've used the standard inexpensive version for several years and they definitely DO cause a magenta color shift. The longer the exposure the stronger the color shift. They have a relatively new line of filters called "Nuance" that they claim to be color neutral. The cost is similar to Lee.

You definitely have a knack for composition, Jean. When we see nicely composed photos of seascapes, it seems that it would be easy to compose them effectively. When we get to the sea, we realize that it's a lot more difficult to do than we thought.

Thank you Manfred, I'm not sure to want to pay more for Lee or Hitech filters at the moment, but I read a lot these days and everybody agree ith their superiority.
As amateur Ican choos if I want to keep a picture in color or transform it in B&W if it has a magenta dominante

It's like you: you put a vegetable a bottle et voila a wonderful picture.

I'm sure lucky with my landscape photos, you just have to jump from a rock to another, up and down, choose your angle with the sun, the hour, the day with or without wind. Easy when you live à 10 mn from the seaside.
In few days I'll come to Paris, happy to be there to find other occasions to shoot architecture, .... and landscapes.

I recommend Formatt-Hitech over Cokin for 85mm resin coated, with the metal the filter holder, but you need a 105m polarizer as it screws on the front. That can be expensive.
