The sun sets on one of the islands and the beach as surfers and sand-walkers enjoy the remains of the day.
Well, was hoping to photograph the spectacular descent of the sun over the horizon behind the Muriwai Gannet colony, but my partner was technically challenged with the garden hose fittings, so I was late as I drove the 35km to the site, watching the sun sink lower and lower and expecting to just see darkness upon arrival. So these three photos were were super fast snapshots before the lights went out... Now I know when I have to be there to see the whole thing.

Well, I arrived as the main body of 3-4 photographers were leaving. Still, I shared the spot with one other die-hard using a Nikon bridge camera on a tripod, plus a young chap trying to seduce the hot blond he was with (both had cell phones).
