    Perigree Moon rising over Arngask

I haven't been able to get a pic on either of the last two evenings. Tried again tonight. This was the best of a not-very-great bunch. Will try again over the next couple of evenings. Not over-impressed with this one.

The moon did struggle to make itself seen through the cloud cover, but it did oblige for a wee while.

Like the atmosphere, it takes me wherever I want. Perhaps to crop top third

Lucky you, I have not seen the moon for the last few days. So Don't complain to loudly.

I like it. Evocative. I agree with Robert: I'd consider cropping from the top, but probably less than the 1/3 that Robert suggested.

Hmmm...lucky you...when Bill called me earlier from our airport while walking the dogs, to look at the moon, I was disappointed because our neighbours' houses across the road covered it. The atmosphere really made this shot. Very nice....

At least you saw it Donald. Couldn't even see the outline here. Maybe tonight. Nothing wrong with your image though.

It's obvious that I have been spending way too much time in my makeshift studio and not getting outside enough. I have looked at this image several times over the last day and every time I do so the sky looks like it is made of wrinkled background material. Clearly, this observation says a lot about me and nothing about the image.

There's quite a lot of noise in there, Mike, which I don't mind. Other than that, I upped the contrast and structure sliders in Silver Efex Pro, but not by much.

Well captured Donald, I do like this image.
I could only manage a late evening image by which time the moon was too high in the sky to be able to include any other features to give a sense of scale. The outcome of which is just another full moon image IYSWIM

That's the problem. Unless you have some sort of reference point/subject, one full moon is like any other full moon.

The big problem is getting everything in focus. The trees here are not. Given the settings I was using, the hyperfocal distance for the shot was 795 yards. That means that anything from half that distance to infinity would be in focus ... if I focused at 795 yards. However, I had nothing else to focus on and even if I did, how would I know it was 795 yards away. That would still have meant that these trees had to be 400 yards away. They were not.
