Erik, I think you've overdone the colour and have left too much sky.........![]()

Very vibrant.
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Regardless of the style of pp, I don't think the shadow running along the bottom frame works.
That's sufficiently different for me to like it Erik,
Most of the things I'd normally critique and suggest changing (in an image) are actually part and parcel of what makes it evoke the feeling of a cold November day ...
Low light angle and warm tone
Golden leaves on trees and blowing across the grass
Expanse of cold blue sky
Empty berthing jetties for summer pleasure craft, all now tucked up in their winter storage
Plane containing folks jetting off to warmer climes (at this time of year)
Other compositional factors work well too;
The repeating patterns of the jetties and their stairs
The 2 seats and 2 concrete blocks in f/g
The position of the plane in sky
Ratios of grass, river, far bank and sky
The wispy clouds in the sky
If I had seen this (and that's unlikely), my only (after)thought is it might have been nice to get a little water to separate the red chairs from the far bank by shooting from a tad higher camera position.
I don't think you can afford to crop the shadow at lower edge, it is a bit of a distraction, so cloning might be the answer, but I wonder if we'd miss it.
Arguably the three red bouys are so necessary, but the colour treatment has actually made them largely match the chairs, so that ties the f/g to the midground for me.
You made me think, and type, a lot! (so it must be good)
Cheers, Dave
PS
I live by a river and town which similarly has 'summer only' boats, et al, so perhaps the scene resonates more for me than others without the annual experiences we have.
Too vibrant for a November shot, Erik...or too much pp...I have nothing better to say so I better go back to my cave.
Goodnight...
I like it, well done.
A bit too harsh colour; yet i like it![]()
Erik - I agree with the others who suggest you pushed this image too hard in post. The saturation is over the top and the colours are really looking almost cartoon like. When I look at the image in Photoshop, you have crushed values at the lower end on all three colour channels. When I look at the two concrete pads at the bottom right, I don't think these should be green; concrete tends to be gray.
I also agree with the others - that heavy shadow along the bottom of the image and the plane really should be removed in post.
The metadata says this image was taken at 9:15AM. but given the hard shadow along the bottom of the image, I would have guessed it was somewhat later than that. Regardless, the image is rather dark for the given lighting conditions. Having all that sky in the image has fooled the light meter into underexposing and the metadata shows no exposure compensation. I suspect that +2/3 stops might have been about right.
Very strong colors but I think they go well with each other. I agree with Dave about cloning the long shadow in the FG. Nice one Erik![]()
Thank you all for you comments.
I completely agree that the image is overcooked. I would not have "Liked" such an image if I came across it. What I do like about this image is the near cartoon feel. The image is exaggerated but not ruined completely. Course, art is subjective. I just wanted to show a piece that is out of the norm for me and decided to keep it.
Below is the same image but a little more traditional and expected.
You may stand somewhere in between, closer to the original![]()
