    Born to Be Wild

Twice a year our community becomes a mini Sturgis (which for those of you outside the US, is where over a 100,000 bikers gather for an annual meeting in Sturgis, SD). While we do not get the 100,000+ crowd, we do get upward of 10-15,000 from all over the country. It's a week of loud bikes, vendors, bands and really, a lot of peaceful fun.

This is just a quick few shots I got while on an errand.

No need to pick a favorite as this is just a simple share.

I've never understood the attraction. It is interesting how many locations across the country have biker weeks that grew of their own volition.

This is a really excellent set of shots. The gray bike in image #2 is about the coolest bike I have ever seen. Sort of looks like a gray "Bat-Mobile" bike. It would look super in a metallic black

However: My favorite image of this set is #4 with the red bike and the guy wearing the Go-Pro on his forehead. All the leading lines direct my gaze to his face and his expression is priceless. You also nailed the focus perfectly! The bike's paint job must have been super expensive. They did a great job on it!

Granny on the trike is pretty cool also. I'll bet that she is a fun gal

One thought: it would be easier to discuss the images if they had numbers...

Great panning skills shown here Chris - not to mention all the other things we take for granted in your shots

Excellent set of images. Great variety here. I've spent a lot of time on motorcycles, both on the back and on my own and followed my husband to many a rally so these images made me smile. The leather on the first guy's leg is a new one to me. Perhaps to keep him from burning his leg on the pipes?

Aren't helmets compulsory for bike riders in the US?

It's decided at the State level.

Not if you take out a special insurance policy and sign up to be an organ donor.

    Re: Born to Be Wild

As an aside - This weekend, a truck driven by a suspected drunk driver careened from the off ramp of the Coronado Bridge (San Diego Side) and landed thirty feet down in the midst of a motorcycle rally, killing four people and injuring others. In the past, I have seen tire tracks going up the cement barrier at the off ramp but, the tire tracks have always come down. Supposedly this was a foolproof ramp. Obviously it was not proof against the fool that was driving the truck!
