    Wherry Wavey

There's a full moon at the moment so we're having huge tides. I caught the low one the other day (iPhone only) but made the effort to go down to a local cove (The Wherry) last night with a proper camera

I played around with positions (trying not to get soaked) and exposure times. Can't decide if I prefer the faster motion stopping shots or the slower ones that show the movement - I think the slower one is a stronger image.

I have to go with the first one. The second one may be a bit stronger but the first on has a wilder rougher feel to it.

I have to go with both because they are two great images. Just love them.

Both are very nice compositions, each with their own merit in that regard and each with their own light. As for the shutter speed, I generally stop the action of water when I want to show its power and I generally don't stop that action when I want to show the more serene aspects of the scene.

    Thanks for the replies.

Either shutter speed I can't wait to get down at the next high tide and have another go.

These are two different images for me and both good. Unusually, I particularly like the second because the shutter speed has given a softness to the surf which is quite painterly (if that's a word) and attractive in it's own right.

I prefer the first one. You are talking of strong, you already got it there. I am not really a fan of cloudy soft interpretation. To me it looks artificial. Real is better. Just my thoughts.

The second and I think it's the people included that makes it for me.

Painterly is a great word - thanks.
