When I first saw it, I thought this was a large-ish mantelpiece and the dark board was at the back where the grate and chimney would be - then the signs and lights 'registered' in my (obviously woolly) brain and the penny dropped - that would be the same penny you might spend in such a place 
I wonder what Chas. T. Currelly did to deserve his Gallery apparently being turned in to a convenience

To sum it up, the shot is so simple but intriguing because I was trying to find a door, a dividing door between the icons. Then I realized, it is a little hall perhaps leading to said icons. Well, at least they are distinct differences between male and female instead of the "undecided today" a male denizen who'd say "I'd like to feel like a woman today and use the ladies rest room.
Dave my mind is just as wooley worst than yours.
