Chiseled by the mountain gods
I was hiking around a lake last weekend and among the many fascinating rock fracturing, I noticed these two. It took a bit of time to position myself in the talus to get a good angle. The first shots had my shadow in it, so I angled my position to get the shadow out. Hope you like it.

This little guy thought I was nuts, btw.

I liked the second one very much; i am not sure about the first one. About 75% of the image is covered by the flat faces of the stone with no details to watch at; yet i liked the blue behind

Second one for me. The little fellow could be right but I do not agree.

Yeah, I'm not sure about the first one either. It was a very cool thing to see, but difficult to shoot. Especially since I had to tuck into a hole in the talus just to get what I got. Lots of time to play with this type of shot. I think the most interesting thing is how natural fractures create such clean, rectangular blocks. Now, how to capture it in a more interesting way. Perhaps a goal for next year.
