Not something I do a lot
I visited a Butterfly Farm in Stratford Upon Avon recently, that in itself is unusual for me, but taking macro insect images using a tripod is definitely not something I do a lot. I should do it more but often its not possible to get the instect to stays still while you set it all up - however, in this case an Owl Butterfly detail and a detail of the detail. The first is full frame image and the second is a section enlarged to the same size. No sharpening has been applied.
Nikon D7100 - Sigma 150mm macro, no flash, tripod, mirror up and remote release.

Re: Not something I do a lot
Thanks Raymond, I was please with the detail resolution, have to say the sigma macro is a good lens !
Cheers Greg appreciated, it was the key reason I needed the tripod to get that frame rather than the whole creature

Excellent images, detail, colour and the way you framed them.

I like the first image very much Mark, I would fix the color of the branch though

Re: Not something I do a lot
Thanks Maurice, appreciated
Ah Brian - its easy in a butterfly hot house - they are used to people and sit still longer !
Cheers Graham
Thank you Binnur, the branch is actually a coated metal frame for a climbing plant - the flowers were dripping nectar down the side of it - it was happy to sit there taking a free meal for ages
