That's quite the comparison, Brian. You've done well in a brief period of time. Impressive by any standard. Nice job.
Nice captures, good warm colors on the second.
A very well done top notch.
Congrats![]()
There is a more specialised forum that can help with that Brian

There is lots of bits an pieces around on there about technique but as often the case a lot of photo posting,
A lot of the people on there use stacking software which I believe is still free. A common set up is a lowish power Nikon infinite tube objective stuck some how on the end of a 200mm telephoto. Good results have also been obtained with ordinary APO objectives but chromatic distortion may need correcting. Also Raynox close up lenses on ordinary camera lenses. They do some pretty powerful ones. The other approaches can get pretty expensive. Part of the problem with apo microscope objectives is that prior to the infinity tube ones some of the correction was in the eyepieces. Seems that it's not on the Nikon ones. I've stayed away from it as generally insects are killed and things like 1/2 a ping pong ball is used as a soft box. I have seen some cases of shots of live insects. One instance in particular of some one lying in a field and advancing the camera by hand. He was using the rather expensive Canon higher magnification macro lens that I think doesn't even have image stabilisation. A Raynox close up lens may be able to match that on your macro lens. There is a calculator in the tutorials on here that will tell you what magnification you could achieve.
I do have one Raynox close up lens bought to try this year - insects have been a problem though and for stacking I'd have to find one that will stay still. Some people have a rail driven by a stepper motor so just press a button.
Looks like the stacking software is no longer free. Not surprised really as the person who produced it has worked on it for a very long time.

You may come across all sorts of comments about how good one stacker is compared with another. This one can do really good work.

Congrats... This proves that combined with natural ability and a lot of effort a piece of gear (in your case the Tamron macro) can help elevate a persons imagery.
