Are they easier to shoot from behind Jim ? You usually catch them like that. Nice and clear shot

Possibly, but in my experience, they are usually perched looking out over water (pond or lake), so unless you get your feet wet, they will be facing away

Good shot Jim, it is unfortunately a fairly dull blue, verging on grey.

If you get them from behind, Binnur, it is easier to get equal sized wings with plenty of fine detail and sufficient focus depth. Alternatively, a side shot can work but you need to get exactly the right angle. Head on is tricky because there can be problems with including whatever they are perched upon.

Great sense of photographic composition and presentation. I like Mr Blue/grey and his exquisite delicacy. Well done Jim.

Dave you are correct. Most of my dragon shots are done at a small lake and I don't want to get the feet wet.
