I changed this into B&W using Photoshop, with default settings on a black and white layer, but increased blue from 20 to 150.
I am not happy with the white tee shirt, it lacks white.
This is all new to me so any C&C is welcomed.
I would have liked to cropped out that front monitor, but I would have lost the spare guitar.

    Re: On stage

I think the image has good potential. There are three things I would do to fit my aesthetic. Yours may be different.

    1. Agree about brightening the shirt some. I would do it using the Camera Raw filter and selectively brushing in a brighter white over the shirt using the white balance slider.

    2. The highest light on the upper right is distracting to me and I would eliminate it.

    3. The light seen between his legs is also distracting but an essential part of the scene. Burning it in a bit would decrease its intensity while keeping the atmosphere of which it is part.

I don't do these kinds of photos so it was a nice exercise for me to critique from my point of view. Thanks for sharing!

I think the distracting lights are more important than the whiteness of the T-Shirt . I would try to fix them. Actually the monitor doesn't distract me at all. It blends with the environment nicely. A nice stage shot with good composition

Looks OK to me, Gary. It is mostly a back lit scene so I wouldn't change anything. Maybe, I would clone out those small bright light spots on his leg close to the guitar. If you want to remove the top light I would consider a crop before trying anything else.

Thanks to all for your comments and input, it is much appreciated.
I went into PS and did some burning on the lights between the guitarist legs.
The top light I left in, if I had cloned it out it would have left a lot of empty space at top of image, also I did not want to crop it out.
I tried to whiten the tee shirt, but was not happy with the result, so I left it as it was.

You can also clone the two white dots on his trousers Gary, your edit looks better

What did the shirt look like prior to applying the blue?

Blue? I can't see any blue John. The image looks B&W on my monitor

    Re: On stage

The image below is as shot with only resizing and unsharp mask.
The blue that John mentions is related to my first post in this thread.
When I was changing the image into B&W, I increased the blue slider (in black and white layer PS) from 20 to 150 to brighten the lights ( in retrospect to bright), so in the second image I decreased to 50.
The tee shirt did turn whiter as the blue slider increased in value.

I have removed the two white spots

    Re: On stage

Sorry Gary and John. When I read the first post I saw the note about the blue slider and I made my first comment on the image. But later, I completely forgot about it

PS. Actually the color image has more pop and I find it better
