Lockport, IL Lock & Dam Photos

Several months ago, as part of Lockport, Illinois' I&M Canal Days, I attended a tour of the Lockport Lock and Dam. This lock and dam comprise Lock #1 on the Chicago Sanitary & Ship Canal, and are located not too far north of the confluence of the canal with the Des Plaines River. Control of the lock and dam is the responsibility of the US Army Corps of Engineers.

Thanks Nandakumar, John, Binnur, and Mike. My favorite photo is #4: with the man near bottom center, you can get a good idea of the size of the barges. (I neglected to mention that the barges were loaded with sand.)
