    Great Egret

It occurred to me, during my foray, that I seldom photograph large wading birds. This is a shame, as they are quite prevalent around here. With this in mind, I began stalking this egret. I captured the typical 'bird standing in water' shot

    Great Egret

Not entirely satisfied, I tried the 'bird with lunch' shot

    Great Egret

Still not sated, I tried the Holy Grail...'The Strike.'

    Great Egret

This has proven to be a bit of a challenge. I have managed to capture head plunged deeply in the water, blurred head in motion, or head being withdrawn from water. I still want a sharp shot of the bill, just as it enters the surface. I need more luck. The quest continues....

Nicely done, very difficult to AF in that environment, did you use manual focus?

Nice shots Randy, #2 looks just a bit bright but you can fix it with PP anyway

Good work, Randy. Great job focusing images 2 and 3 with all of the reeds in front of those birds.
