They are exceptionally flighty and as they could sit on your thumb nail getting close enough is a problem.

That type of butterfly is called a skipper or Hesperiidae. The carriage of the wings and the 'sugar scoops' at the end of the antennae are indicators. I don't recall seeing one like that in Florida.
