    Now you see, where you and I differ Brian, is that when you get a new lens, you produce art, whereas I just produce sharper pictures (if I can be bothered - but that's a whole 'nother issue)

    I'm always amazed by these macro close ups of insects....how is it done? Search through the undergrowth and then set up or set up first and hope for insect to appear in your vicinity?

    Here's how I do it: I set up my camera, grab my stool and walk around my yard. When I notice a possible shot I explain to the wee beasty that I'm friendly and if they are willing I can end up with a good shot.

    I have spent the last few years doing this. Only the last few months with a true macro lens. If you have a bridge camera or a lens like an 18-55 mm you can get some great close-up shots.
