    Say Hello to Kasey

    Hi Folks,

Just 1 of over 400 frames shot tonight (in fact, this was the very last shot). For the last set I've gone from a white background and large softboxes to a black background and shoot (with only a hint of back lighting), for a very edgy portrait.

    Hope you enjoy

Were the first 399 only practice shots?

A cracker (as per usual). On my work tablet PC so not safe to make detailed comment, but the lighting looks spectacular.

Thanks Donald ... no the first 399 were lots of other combinations of the clients 3 (fashion consious) daughters, and 2 parents

Excellent shot, Colin, and I love the lighting. What is that thread running horizontally across her her hair behind her back? Well done.

    Thanks Rob,

That "thread" is a piece of hair caught around the earring, being blown back by the fan. I hadn't noticed if before (thanks for pointing it out). I worken on that image untial about 1am, so I think I'll make removing the hair tonights project!

    Coin

This is a step change upward from you previous posts. This is much more natural and lit with a depth that is tangible. Skin tones are beautifully captured. Previously I think we had technically well lit here we have artistically well lit. I hope you are charging the going rate for these images. I would think you could recover the capital costs of equipment relatively quickly with this sort of output

Now back home on on the 'real' computer and able to confirm earlier comments - the lighting on that is absolutely stunning. It has drama, tension, seductive qualities, oozes mood. To paraphrase Steve, this is art.

    Just phenominal.

Great portrait, Colin! I think part of the greatness comes from having professional looking models

Thanks folks, she's certainly a dream model to photograph. With a bit of luck she might be doing some more modelling for me in the future, but in the meantime, here's another one for you to enjoy (uncropped)

    Hi there, Kasey!

Tough call, but I think I like your second shot better.

But if I were you, I'd get them both!

Thanks Antonio (and others). Perhaps if I process another 10 of the shots from that set we can make a Kasey calender!

Excellent, Colin. I think this is slightly better than the first - seems to have a little more movement.

The lighting looks flawless to me. Everything looks good as far as I can see.

But the whimsical sidelong look is what really does it. I love this one.

    What a fun portrait.
