A few shots I took after a visit to the barber's...

These are a few shots I took last Thursday as I took a short walk around the city after a visit to the barber's...

#1 - Lady on some sort of motorised scooter passing a pub on Plymouth Street
A few shots I took after a visit to the barber's...

#2 - This one is again on Plymouth street, another interesting looking lady passing the arcade
A few shots I took after a visit to the barber's...

#3 - Age catches up with us all! This lady was determinedly walking through the shopping centre
A few shots I took after a visit to the barber's...

All of these have stories to tell...In #1, is that kind motor vehicle allowed in the street or just for pavement driving. You have same topic (theme for the last two) -- age. Interesting or co-incidence?

Well taken shots Matt. Some will have reservations over capturing people who are at a disadvantage in life and I must admit that for me the jury is still out. However that being said, I find the third shot quite poignant because of the contrast between the old lady's apparent struggle and the lively couple striding out on the RHS.

Great shots! I like the level of contrast you used. However, as a predominantly landscape photographer I wonder how you approach shooting people on the streets (this pun never gets old). Do you ask first whether you can take a picture of them? Or do you shoot and ask later? Or do you ask at all? And how do people react when they notice you take pictures of them?

This little vehicle seems like it would be great for a photographer. Toss it in the back of my Subaru Forester and then take it out and ride it around to places to shoot. I was just on the waterfront of San Diego Bay yesterday (went to dinner) and this would be a great little vehicle to ride around down there and other places....

Thanks Izzie, I find old people really interesting - and sometimes if I stop to talk they've normally got really good stories

Thanks John, I have come across that on this site before - but it doesn't bother me really. If something interests me, I will shoot it - I never take a shot to mock anyone/thing.

Thanks Peter, I never ask before or after - it short of defeats the object of street photography for me. I have been noticed a few times, people either just stare or smile from my experiences - and I just give a smile back. I haven't had a bad experience yet, fingers crossed !

Gotta admit that I've never been referred to as interesting...
