I like the simplicity of images made in this minimalist style. Perhaps consider looking for compositions that are even more minimalistic, such as excluding the foreground barbed wire and all the clouds except the one puffy one in the very center.
I like seeing open spaces like this; then wy should i dislike them in pictures ?
I love these shots. Two things you might consider--the white point might need some attention, and, unless you are one who prefers the aspect ratios traditionally associated with film, perhaps the feeling of wide open spaces would be enhanced by a more panorama shaped image achieved by cropping at the bottom.
I think most of us don't understand the work it takes to successfully farm!
All landscapes are just landscapes until nature adds a bit of dazzle. Nicely captured.
I know what you mean Lew. I can't explain it, other than my eyes were tired from driving all day and I'm not sure my lens gets good infinity focus. I used a LTM Nikkor 1.4 50mm for this shot. The only thing that is sharp is the distinct horizon line of earth and sky. I wanted to include all the clouds to show my wife I wasn't driving in thunder storms which she was seeing on the weather maps along my route. I'm amazed I drove half way across country and back and the only time it rained was when I over nighted in Denver on my way home.
This was taken with my new-to-me used Sony A7ii btw. SOOC jpeg.
The wheat or whatever it is is so out of focus that I assumed that was by design.
Trying to focus at infinity is the problem here.

If you shot at f22 and focussed on something about 20 feet away, the image would be in focus from 6 feet to infinity.
Use the deep DOF of the smaller apertures to cover the greatest depth.
Like the others I admire the concept here and agree with comments about the potential in a re-shoot and development of your style with these sort of shots - keep at it.
If I look at the exif, it seems the lens isn't recognized. Every info concerning the lens is not there. At ss 1/6400 and an iso of 100 the aperure is fully open or disabled or something like that.
George
Kaye - A re-shoot probably isn't going to happen since this was taken 1,500 miles or so from home. But there are other fields out there waiting to be shot I'm sure.
How do you control your focus and distance?
George
I use the camera focus peaking and tired eyes, George.
I admit, these shots are not my best efforts, I was driving across the country and stopped to take a break, but should have spent more time getting the shots correct.
