    Help with Elements Clone Tool

Hi Everyone: I think I have unknowingly changed the settings for the Clone tool in Elements 8. It was working fine, but something has happened and now when I try to clone something I get a lot of speckles around the edges of where I am cloning.

    The current settings are;
Brush - I'm not sure???? i think this might be what got changed, but I don't know which one I should be using.
    Brush Size - changes
    Mode - Dissolve
    Opacity - 100%
    Aligned - checked
    Sample all Layers - checked

    Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated

    Thanks
    Wendy

LOL, well I did say ANY thoughts or suggestions appreciated; however, I think I'd go off the deep end if I tried learning another editing program, and from what I hear GIMP isn't for dummies like me. Not that Elements is for Dummies..., I have muchos trouble with it that smart people would not have. So don't go taking that the wrong way.

Thanks anyway Donald, maybe in another lifetime, or next year.

I just tried it Wendy; and it is the same in PSE7. But normal mode looks a little better but still feathered.

Thank you Arith, I am such an idiot. I went looking for Normal Mode and could not find it. The first one on my screen was Disolve. Sigh - I thought Normal MUST be there, and then I noticed the scrollbars!!!! Amazing. Problem solved. Scroll up so I can see Normal Mode and select it. Panic attack, over, I won't throw the puter out the window.

    Thanks

Whatever you do, don't throw the computer out the window. Glass is expensive.

Reminds me of an old saying I heard, with a new twist ...

"Before you criticise someone, first walk a mile in their shoes. Then you'll be a mile away, and you'll have their shoes!"

Wendy, there is a little icon at the top left of the screen(above the tool bar), where you can click it and reset all of the tools to default settings.

Ahaaaa! Thanks Steve, I see it. I can reset one or all of them. That would have helped here because I knew I was previously working with default settings. I figured they got changed accidentally but did not know what the defaults were. Handy!
