    See-through Barn Door

Here is a second barn image in IR. This is the full frame. Do you think I should crop it tighter?

The ivy is enveloping both sides of the barn. It's pretty to look at but very destructive on a wood structure. The big door was where loose hay was loaded into the upper story of the barn for winter feed for livestock. Hay bales replaced loose hay by the 1940s in the Midwest (USA). Comments and suggestions welcome.

The vines at the bottom don't contribute so I'd take a few inches off the bottom
Is it possible to back off the exposure a bit to get some texture in the leaves?

    Very attractive toning!

I would leave the composition as is, Paul. The leaves at the bottom nicely frame the near opening, which in turn nicely frames the rear opening. If you crop anything at the bottom, that sense of a frame within a frame within yet another frame is less apparent to my eye.

Denny, thanks for the suggestion. I checked the original file and there is almost no texture in the leaves. My infrared modified Canon 1Ds has a sensor of 11.1 mp. From the distance I was shooting, it could not resolve that fine detail. Otherwise, I'm very happy with the old girl. It's getting a lot more use than taking up space in my file cabinet. Bright, sunny and contrasty light is perfect for infrared.

I don't think the crop should be any tighter, Paul. Great toning. I'm just wondering why the foliage on the right side of the roof is fainter than the rest. Was this shot in fog?

Very nice Paul. Unusual processing making for an interesting image.

I like the current crop also. I think the ivy leaves do contribute and cutting off any in the bottom will put it out of balance. Well done!

I recently converted by old Xsi to infrared. Still figuring out the end result that I'm wanting from it. But it's fun and gives you a chance to shoot when the time and light is otherwise terrible for photography.

Like this much more than your other IR offering Paul. I prefer the symmetry and that loop (?) in the far window as it draws the eye, makes for a good composition. The current crop is fine for me as well.
