That first image super duper works for me because the lines of the grass accentuate the lines of the cracked wood. Great colors too. Was the grass actually that green or have you vibrance boosted? Because holy cow is that ever green grass.
Perhaps try for greater separation with a narrower DoF or make a shadow behind the post and expose differently.
Three lovely studies. Weathered wood in that state is such a wonderful subject. It's so full of character. So tactile.
I can see these printed and displayed together, with the third one in the middle of the three and mounted slightly higher than the other two.
The first new grass is this strange almost florescent neon green. Same with the aspen tree leaves. I was talking about this with a fellow photographer friend of mine, a commercial photographer, and he says he has to darken and saturate the greens a bit when shooting this time of year. Otherwise he finds his clients think the colours unnatural, weird and unacceptable.
