    simply messing about in boats

A composite of three shots I took today at Bewl Water. It was a glorious day to be by the water, even if the light wasn't conducive to good photography. C&C welcome.

    Hi Simon,

You say this is a composite and I wondered whether the focal length used was different between the 'background' image and the two nearer boats? (or indeed; whether you cropped in on them more in PP)

I ask because to my eyes, which might be deceiving me, they look a little too big for their placement in the scene, but had you brought them closer to the foreground (lower edge), they might have appeared to be seen at the 'wrong angle' - not sure I'm explaining this very well

That said, exposure and light angle looks believable and you succeeded in not leaving an obvious halo on the water's surface around the boats.

    Cheers, Dave

    PS
I edited your post because the pasted in speech marks around the KG quote where causing display issues in the Latest Threads listing.

Thanks Dave. The boat on the right in the foreground was not composited - it was a part of the original picture. The one on the left was added and I agree, it nearly looks right but not quite!

See, I knew I could be wrong

    ... and I was!

You mentioned three shots contributing, so what else was added?

We can all be wrong - ive almost made a career out of it

The boat foreground left was taken from one shot, and the small boats in the distance were taken from another. The tower and boat on the right, as well as the background and sky were all from the original shot.
