    It's springtime in Ottawa!

Both John and James posted some nice springtime images from their part of the world and got some rather vocal whining from me:

    It's here Again

Re: It's here Again.... a few more, just for Manfred!

I was heading out to run a few errands about an hour ago and grabbed my camera to take this quick snapshot of some crocuses poking out through the snow in a flower bed in front of the house. I suspect they are seriously questioning their move to pop out of the ground just yet. And yes, it's snowing again...

You need to move west Manfred. It was 26C here yesterday and 23C today. Those poor crocus must be confused.

Thanks for that great information Rita and Dan. We had 15cm / 6" of snowfall a couple of days ago. This unfortunately not all that unusual at this time of year. The good news is that the snow usually does not last more than a day or two.

I was planning to take the bicycles in for their annual spring service, but putting the bike rack on the car and taking them in while the snow plows were running down the street seemed a bit over the top, even for me. I guess there is always next week.

The death knell of many a potential photo opportunity....................

I must admit Manfred that we Brits do complain about the weather quite a lot and hanker after exotic places but sometimes the grass isn't necessarily greener............

Much as I like your picture, it brought me the giggle bug for trying to feel Springtime where you are... I thought that from your yesterday's post some miracle might had happened today...false alarm...

    Yes, sometimes it's whiter.

Izzie - as with every other year, our weather is rather unpredictable and the temperatures at this time of year can vary from below freezing to being outside in shorts. Both these conditions tend not to last too long and we get back to the realities of early spring weather. Things usually straighten out by the end of the month and we can get back into regular outdoor activities without needing to resort to winter boots and coats.

    Spring is coming!

Here we are in the opposite way... getting colder. At least the snow is a thing for the mountains around and the temperature here in the town doesn't go much below - 5 °C in the winter.

You are lucky - in the summer +30 °C is not uncommon and in the winter -25 °C is common as well. We do get a few days in the summer where we might approach +35 °C and a few days in the winter where we hit -30 °C and even -35 °C.

I have no clue about how would it be to live in such a cold place. I've been here in this part of Argentina for around 2 years and it is already very cold for me! I'm from the northeast of Brazil, where the temperature ranges from 20 to 45 °C over the entire year.

Then why did you move?! I would have stayed even just for the weather alone...Oh well...

In some ways, it is easier to deal with the cold weather as you can just wear more clothing and of course the houses are centrally heated. When it gets too hot, there is a limit to what you can take off, and air conditioning or fans have their limitations.

My oldest daughter lives in India and is not enjoying the heat at all and there won't be any relief until the monsoon rains cool things down in June,
