the Farningham Folly
Last one for today. I've been in two minds as to whether I should post it as it is, to my mind, a bit boring, but some of you may be in to photos of medieval cattlegrids or whatever it is - no one is sure what function it served. I tried to echo the sepia photos on the wall in the local pub, which was much more welcoming than the weather! I've used radial filters to give the light some depth, as the original image was flat as a pancake.

Bit too much tone for my taste, but that's just a personal thing. Good use of the light, I think.
As to function - my best guess, given that it is not a bridge, is, as with the more modern structures in place, is to stop/block debris going downstream in flood conditions. It's a filter to block trees, branches, etc. Anyway, that's my best guess!

Or to stop boats?
Basically looks OK to me. Is that ducks on the water? They aren't clear so I would clone them out.
The right side highlights seem a bit bright in places while the left side is possibly a fraction on the dark side.
An alternative to give a bit of 'pop' might be Local Contrast Enhancement or an Adjustment Layer with the Blend Mode set to Soft Light and a suitable opacity.
But authentic sepia images usually look a bit on the 'flat' side anyway.

Tones above and behind the structure are too similar. Nicely composed though.

Perhaps if it is that old it is a defence against the Danes coming up the river? i assume the pipe is a later addition.
