Delicious looking! Methinks that a slight vignette might add to this image...
Hi Brian,
When I look at this, my brain cannot decode the relative depths of the darker yellow petals and the brighter green seed pod and leaf visible through the gap in the petals. My brain keeps 'flipping', telling me the brighter greens are in front of the yellow - weird. Especially the 'arrow head' shape formed by the petals and the brighter back of same visible through the gap.
I'm not sure if you are 'in' to dodging and burning techniques, but I think a spot of 'burning' (in PP - we wouldn't want to upset SWMBO) might resolve the issue I experience when viewing (either version) this image.
Cheers, Dave
You're right upsetting SWMBO is not a good plan. First question: A squash does have seeds inside but I have never seen one referred to as a seed pod?
Second question: Are you saying I am suffering from too great a DOF and too good a sharpness?
And while I am not as good at dodge and burn as I am at cloning I do use the techniques.
B.
Nicely done.
I am no horticulturist Brian; my name for it may well be incorrect, as might be my assumption of what is inside the spherical part behind the bloom
Not really, no.
It is just an accidental combination of shape and tone that leads to the issue.
Changing DoF or sharpness isn't really the best way to deal with it.
Changing the lighting, either at time of shooting or in PP, is better.
Also, if shot from a different angle, it might not have been an issue.
Q. how did you get good at cloning?
A. By practice
Time to learn, or improve, that 'burning' skill perhaps?![]()
