My first attempt photographing Little People...

I want to add this to my P52 but I changed my mind as I already have a theme for this week...just waiting for my butcher block to dry out 72 hours...so I thought I'd throw this one in so you can see what I have been up to...

1 Bird's eye view of my workers...My first attempt photographing Little People...

What do you think? I know ... wrong camera angle, but I will do better next week when I make this my theme...any and all comments and critiques will be appreciated.

Izzie, I think you may be onto something here. You've got a really good idea here and I can kinda see these little guys in any number of situations. This. Could. Be. Interesting.

Seeing your title I thought you were taking up shooting babies. I'm not enough past the shock to make any meaningful comment beyond that. Looks tasty maybe???

Why? You don't like it? I just started food photography again and the first question asked was "How do you photograph a garlic?" I thought it was easy but it wasn't, so I brought out my little people toys and see if I can do something with them for a while. I have a list of themes by researching the internet on P52 alone done by other people. I just added each theme as I go along but I haven't seen little people theme.

Thank you for your snide comment...again.

I think I have a pretty good idea by now. Bill and I did shared those potato chips with cheese and bacon for lunch though. It was nice for a while. I have other little people and tried to shoot the boat people but they drowned in milk. I will re-shoot tomorrow...Thanks for your comment. 'Appreciate it very much.

I thought so too! I will keep this project in mind whenever I cook dinner. One thing though, Bill got sick of waiting for me to finish photographing this chips. It was just slightly warmed when I gave it to him...

Thanks, Rita...'really appreciate your passing by to comment...

Itwill be interesting to see how you cope with the basic guide of shooting people and things [ animals toys] from their own height and depth of field in getting more than a 'flat' composition. ... have fun ... I am sure you will

I was just experimenting yet. I do not think this will be one of those they teach at food photography... I had taken one of those same course before and I ran out of steam. I am trying on my lenses too. It seems that my macro 105mm is the only thing that can come really close so tomorrow while I wait for my butcher board oil to cook and settle I might attempt one of the extension tubes...see how I go...

'Appreciate your comments. I really do not like this shot, so many problems with it yet but I might develop patience and creativity around the corner of my mind one of these days...Thanks again.

This made me smile Izzie - and I agree it is a good theme.

They also look tasty, if not so good for the waistline (but OK as an occasional treat).

However, IMO there's nothing worse than cold food (that should be hot), so I feel for poor Bill

Also, be sure to extract all the little people, we wouldn't want anyone to choke on an 'escapee'

Looking forward to the next in series, Dave

Izzie, you have started something here. It could develop into something great, even monumental, in the annals of gastronomy.( I've just invented that word). It is funny. Photography should be fun. Great picture.
    Cheers Ole

Izzie, my only critique is that you've made me hungry.
Now I'm off to get something to eat.

    Izzie,

The small people can be a challenging project. I agree with John to leave the flat planes and play with DOF.
You mentioned often you are using extension rings on the 105 lens. That is a macro lens being able for 1:1 shooting, I think. Why the extension rings?

If you want some inspiration google on "slinkachu" or http://little-people.blogspot.nl/. I didn't see him doing it with food.
