    A bucketful of snake

    1. These photos of the carpet python were taken some time ago and I hope I could do a better job with them now. The snake stayed in the bucket for a couple of days and we still don't know why. One guess was that it was trying to soften its old skin in preparation for shedding it.

    2. These two were taken while it was in the lavender patch. It was very placid and I had to lift up its body a little to encourage it to put its head out.

How interesting. My guess is that it was waiting for a dog or small child to walk by.

    Thanks for the comments everyone.

Dan, This snake was a little over two metres long - not big enough to attack a child or anything but a very small dog. It would kill a chicken if given half a chance and we lost a couple to snakes. We stood close up to it many times and it was quite unperturbed.

It was unperturbed what about you when you come across a really big one? I suppose it will depend a bit on how close you get before you see it, anyway we know what is in your camera bag....

I certainly understand why shots of vegetables might be a little boring to you.

You two should collaborate. Snake and onion soup could be the next big thing....

You are on a snake roll here, Tony...anyway, be imaginative like a Frenchman --- they turned yucky into great dishes with snails and frogs. They even love Kangaroo meat. The Chinese eat snake meat. Maybe other Asians too. I made a mistake of eating a few strands of snake meat and field mice once in HK because I trusted a friend. Nevermind what happened after. I haven't talk to that guy since nor seen him.

The snake in the bucket is an interesting image and thought provoking. Nicely done.
