I prefer the first capture, the crop would probably work if more contrast were added.
Thanks John, I will try that.

Dave;
I like the tighter crop but IMHO you might want to consider something like this.
I feel it is a bit more dynamic than the tighter crop all the way around. Let me know if you would like me to remove this but it was easier to show you than to write out in words the crop I had in mind...
Lovely subject BTW![]()
Thank you Shane for showing that. I do like your crop better.
Dave
I like the first one better, like John preferred...your crop is OK too but the top is too centered. Shane's crop is better...
First crop works best for me. Shane has plonked it on the third but I get too distressed about the chopping off of the arms/legs/tentacles.
Talking of which, I notice several have been damaged and since grown new tips.
A close up is worth having Dave.
I played with the original shot and found that a good selection of (four un-chopped) tentacles was possible if the body is placed in the top right corner. The missing tentacles are then not in shot at all.
Cheers, Dave

Sometimes it's fun to take shots of things on the beach with the camera flat on the beach.
Different POV.
I find #1 better compositionally, but the close up might work too if it was placed off centre![]()
