Beautiful colours, and great composition. The blues in the top of the image almost seem fluorescent.

Personal preference - I may have gone over it with a spot healing brush to take out some of the imperfections (the water mark, and the bright spot on the leaf on the left) but you may prefer to document it exactly as you saw it.

Yah got me. I spent a minute looking for an f'n bird hidden somewhere in the frame. No beady little eyes poking out from the foliage. It's a good thing I laugh at myself and got today's installment out of the way early.

Actually this shot has very little to do with what is actually there. I did clone out one spot on the leaf. I don't have spot removing capability that I am aware of in either Gimp or Sony Express.

It is a very pretty flower but it has an unusual shape. The best I have figured out for this flower is this closeup.

These Birds of Paradise aren't as dangerous as a grizzly but they are skittish. Getting in this close without a telephoto was a challenge.

Glad to be of assistance. Taken from the right angle and distance these flowers do appear to be composed of multiple Flamingo like heads and necks.

Brian, I love your image the colours are very vivid. I would like if you could do 'something' with that vertical tree lurking in the background. Just a thought.
    Cheers Ole

cutting it down is not an option. I thought that if I cloned it out it might be too dark.

Nice colour and a very nice composition Brian. Not an easy subject to compose.

I think you've done a very nice job on this image, Brian. You've gotten away from your "Day to Night" approach, that was not working particularly well for me. The colours are subtle and delicate. I like the way the main part of the flower covers the diagonal of the image; that gives this shot a lot of it's strength.

The only part I'm still vacillating about a bit is how the top right corner of the image is so bright and the bottom left is so dark, so we actually don't spend any time looking at the bottom left of the image. I don't think you can darken up the top right, as that would look strange. Lightening the bottom right is really not going to cut it either, so it is what it is.

You've nailed this one quite nicely. Keep it up!

I shall. And it is Aperture priority, RAW, manually set ISO and auto wb. Plus I get to play with exposure compensation.
