Hi Louise.

Your peers are people pretty much like you, and my peers are people pretty much like me.

So "peer recognition" means being appreciated by people pretty much like whoever is writing.

. . . hence the phrase "peer group pressure".

Which is the influence from one peer or more usually a group of peers to persuade you to do or not do something or to change your opinion.

The main aim being to maintain conformity throughout the group of each member's thoughts and actions - and very often, that's not very at all good - (that last bit is my opinion).
