Thank you Jim. It is great to see a pleasing and none distracting background.

You could try tilting the image so the stem emerges from the top left hand corner. It would probably require a tighter crop and the flower would be less central but I think it would work.

On both my monitors I am seeing pale streaks in the background that are distracting. That being said both the blossom and the leaves sure are pretty.

Brian has a point, there are traces of very out of focus trellis or fencing that could easily be broken up by a bit of cloning. It is not overly distracting but being a pattern once noticed does hold the attention too much. It is still nice to come across a background that is more or less under control....

And if there is anyone who is the master of disaster with backgrounds it's me.

I said it was not busy, did not say it was perfect.

Ziggy..I like that rose but is it possible for you to put the green leaves in one of the corners since your have a blurred background anyway?

I like the BG and the beautiful flower and the leaves stand out very well. I would crop the image from the top to put the green leaves to the corner , IMO the flower would be positioned better in the frame this way

Thanks all for the feedback and I think I agree about getting the leaves in the corner.

Looks better, but I was hoping you would rotate it a bit as well.

e.g. Bloom Without a Busy Background

Not a great deal of different but it is sort of what I envisioned.

Ooops. Noticed I clipped the end off a leaf which I would have avoided if I was not hurrying...
