John, that's a nice way to accentuate the evening light with the incorporation of the lengthening shadow.

Wonderful concept! Too bad the manhole cover gets in the way.

Nice and atmospheric John. And I have no issue with the manhole cover.

+1 to Greg's comments and also with Neville. I once asked someone here about his shots that includes the manhole cover and although his response irritated me a bit I saw it as part of the environment. Anyway, John is talking about the light not exactly the manhole cover...

Nice John, I wonder what it would of looked like if the manhole cover had been centred within the light?

    Re: Evening Light

Considering that I brought up the subject of the manhole cover, I'll add that it just now occurred to me that this would make a really nice image if it was cropped to eliminate the cover. Oddly, I hadn't thought of that possibility when I posted my initial comment.

Thanks all for the feedback. The inclusion of the manhole cover was a deliberate in camera decision because I thought that the FG needed a bit of foreground interest. However, here's a quick and dirty to provide a comparison. Use Lightbox to flick between the two. Further thoughts appreciated.

With this crop and clone you lose the golden light towards the bottom of the frame, and I thought that was an essential part of the original image - being about the light. But also, the manhole cover works like a clock for me - a sundial, even if it isn't particularly accurate.
