Goats: for C&C

Also at Grant's Farm last weekend, we came upon the goat enclosures. There were two or three of them.

1 It is fascinating to see that children and even parents, with the supervisor of course, can go inside the enclosure to help feed the kids. Converted this one to mono because of the many people I cannot get rid of in the environment...



2 This in the mature goats enclosure of course, some of which are pregnant. Being an ex-farmboy, Bill pointed out some preggy ones…all I know is that if the goat has a big tummy, it is pregnant…Well…this is the biggest goat in the pen, just one. I guess s/he knows it too because s/he bullies some others ...



3 What animals do in public without shame…self explanatory.



4 In case you think I had not had a productive shoot, here is the mandatory autumn shot of the day…I think I caught the reflection of the sky here very well, which was the main purpose of this one-quick-shot-wonder as we were all in the trolley being brought to the entertainment area...

Nice series, the 1st and 3rd image has a bit of softness around the edges that is a bit distracting.

There is something about the 1st image that I love... lighting, post processing, story telling. I think it's special and although I'm not qualified to offer advice for some reason I prefer it cropped to eliminate the man on the left. (lyte box)

I also love the image of the goats for the beautiful colours and detail. Very nice. Fall colours, very pretty! The other one

Izzie, I really like #1, you have captured a really nice moment. I do however agree with Christine that a closer crop on the girl & goat might give you a better image. Did you add a vignette blur to these?

In #3 I think the goat is expressing how it feels about having its' pic taken

Nice shots Izzie, I especially like the first one, though the blur might be a bit much - nice idea though. I prefer that over the crop suggested by Jim as I like the context. By the way, first it was the monkey butt, now its the goat peeing.. am i seeing a trend here or is that just me?

Jim, do you feel blurring or cloning out that clear and focused sign beyond the child's face and blurring the fence in the background also will jive with her sneaker's blur.

Agreed, I'd lose the blur vignette (or maybe reduce it), go with Jim's crop and clone out that sign.

John...put a light vignette around it because the crowds were distracting and the annoying mother of that child -- I want to get rid of her more than I want to get rid of the crowd.

What I did was edit the colour version in ACR then get rid of some stuffs in Photoshop then load it in Nik's Colour Efex down the bottom where the vignettes are located. I thought I could do it and I did...

I was more into eliminating the mother than the guy at the left. I cropped it just there because I like the other little goat (kid) there.

The second coloured image I left like that even though I think the goats looks purple-ish. It is a good place for kids, especially for kids.

The fall shot is another of my oneshot-wonder, brain/camera coordination, I think...my aim is to be able to think quick by scanning my surroundings ahead..who knows? I'm mumbling...

Awwww...and I thought I will brag of my autumn colours and you'd like that... Joking aside, yes I did add a vignette on two of them because I thought if there is a B/W conversion in Colour Efex why not go to Silver Efex first and do the B/W properly THEN go to Colour Efex to take advantage of the other effects there too... choosing which effects to add to it can sometimes be outrageous but I chose the subtle coffee coloured one in Silver Efex then went to vignette blur to finish off my preferred effect. I thought I was doing myself a favour there and in the process learning to use effects as I go...

That is a good stronger one, Jim...and no please do not remove it...it is one way of seeing a strong crop which I thought not possible. The nose of the little goat on the left suffered though, that is my only complaint.

I thought so too, Dan...John(2) thought me how to think that way, how effective converting some images to black and white can be and also for emphasis. 'Appreciate your comments very much.
