That's a great shot, Jordan. Walnuts have such terrific texture! How did you light this shot?

+1 Great image, Jordan. This really has to be viewed in Lytebox. I love it.

I like it. Maybe a few larger walnuts on the side. That is only my opinion.

    Re: Walnuts

Chris, it was actually the light, coming from the window that made me stop in front of the kitchen table, where these walnuts were.
At first I tried to take the shot handheld but finding it difficult at 100ISO I mounted my camera on a tripod.
The secret ingredient here was a white kitchen towel that I held to the side opposite of the window to soften the shadows a little bit…;-)

I love this image, abstracty yet immediately recognizable, but mostly because the association of the image subject with so many people I know. This is an image I can see as a relatively large print hanging most anywhere.

My kind of photo -- simple, lots of texture and inviting the viewer to examine every nook and cranny (and spend days doing it). Great use of the white kitchen towel as a reflector.

This would also work well as a monochrome. I can also imagine displaying one open shell among all of the other shells.

Really nice, love the texture and lighting - good use of an impromptu reflector. I would have been tempted to put a hazelnut in there somewhere and wait to see if anyone spotted it
