    Resting

The leaves are beginning to fall now, coming to rest alongside those already at rest in our National Military Cemetery in Ottawa. C and C welcome.

Very nice use of light and composition, the latter being particularly creative.

Nice colours and composition. I like the inclusion of the dark clouds like an omen or something above the graves.

+1 to what everyone has said about light and composition, Stu. I think what sets it apart though, as Izzie has remarked, is the approaching dark clouds.

Dear all - thanks for your kind feedback. I used to be an impatient photographer but have now realized/learned, largely from the experience of others on this site, that sometimes one must wait and be patient to get the right light for a photo to truly "shine". In this case I spent two hours at this site (also visiting my Mom who is buried here) waiting for the sun to break through a very cold and grey cloud cover. As if there was divine intervention, very near sunset the clouds finally opened and I was able to get this shot before the sun sank too low behind me.
