A battle to the death. I think the wasp won in the end but the cricket nymph did some damage.

Is this a parasitic wasp that paralyzes the cricket, drags it into a hole and lays an egg on it?
I always root for the underdog in these events.

Good real life action shots.
There are quite a few species of solitary wasps which use various prey as food for their larvae (including spiders) and several UK species look similar; but I'm not familiar with that particular wasp.
