    Hi Mel,

If this were mine, I would crop some 20% of width of the right hand side - there's nothing there of interest, I'd crop to just include the brown band around his/her body, but not the green further to (our) right.

I believe it may have slightly blown the exposure in the green channel, at least, that's what the Green histogram now suggests (after whatever PP you did), so you may need to keep a closer eye on that when shooting, that said, I can see that there are actually specular highlight on the scales of the front leg and nose and there's not a lot of point in trying to recover them.

When viewed big (on Flickr), I can see it is nicely sharp where it ought to be.

The EXIF data reads; Canon 5D Mk.III, Canon EF 100mm f2.8 L IS Macro lens at f/13, 1/125s, iso 400.

    HTH, Dave

I really like the subject matter and would spent time exploring that beast...assuming it's a pet.

To follow up on what Dave was saying about exposure...your camera has live view capabilities that
enables an all-channel histogram to be displayed. Using it would allow more precise exposure control,
thereby eliminating blowing out those green channels.

Additionally, the camera came with the gear and software to allow for tethered shooting...
might be something to consider if you're as anal retentive as am I.
