    Hummers (image heavy)

Hello all it's been a while since I posted. Summer and then school starting left me with little computer time. School is now back in full swing and I have my days back.

I have been shooting so I have lots to share, hope you don't get too bored

Hummingbirds are in full swing here. We rarely get them in our yard so I have been all over creation hunting them down. As always CC is welcome and appreciated.

Ahh Barbara...why might the eye reflections in the last three be the same?
Gotta nitpick because the are great images.

William, other than lighting the eye a tad I didn't do any PP to the eye, (raises right hand to place on bible ) The top 2 were taken at the same local and on the same branch so the light would have been the same. The other one was taken at a different location so not sure. I really strive for catch lights when taking a photos and have even been known to cull some because they lacked it.

I always want nitpick, it's the only way I'll get better so nitpick away!

The detail in these are phenomenal.

They are all great but #4 is my personal favourite.

Fabulous photos, Barbara. I wish my hummingbird photos came out half as well. I find them exceedingly difficult creatures to photograph

Nice shots of the hummer. Do you know what kind of plant it is in the first one?

Thank you Martin! For me the challenge is part of the fun. I have found that finding a place where there is an abundance of them gives me the best chance of getting some good shots.

Thanks Jim! I think it is the flower of a wild mesquite, however, I am not sure and definitely not a botanist in fact you could call me a purple thumb!

Gotta hand it to the Texans to find a place with so much birds around...I love all of them but mine is not as good yet as I know what I was doing wrong...all beautifully done. Lots of kudos on this side of your fence...

Thank you Izzie, We actually have so many during migration that several towns here hold festivals in their honor. We never have them in our backyard but usually can find some good places nearby to take them.

If I were a hummingbird wanting a really fine portrait of me, I'd hang around your yard! These are all exceptional, and for me, it would be presumption to attempt to pick a favorite.
