I can't explain why, John, but this is a captivating shot! I wonder what she was thinking, or looking for, or waiting for . . .

Thanks for sharing it with us.

    Hi Zen,

I agree about the wonder but didn't want to direct the viewer with a specific title. Thanks for commenting.

Must be a bit windy around when you shot this as the curve of her body shaped by her dress is appealing...I wonder what she has on her right arm...??? and why is she standing nearly in the middle of the road?

Is it a tripod under her right arm? And is Buffalo Big Print a printing outlet?

Yes it's a tripod under her arm and Buffalo Big Print is an art gallery and printing outlet.

    Hi Izzie,

85 degrees that night so any breeze was welcome. She's carrying a tripod, I thought about titling the image with something that would allude to her thought patterns; but felt I'd leave it up to the viewers. Thanks for commenting.

I am moved to comment, John. This is a shot which, to me, could elicit all kinds of criticism about the technical aspects of the shot and yet we are all strangely silent in that regard. The mystery and the composition are indeed captivating, as has already been said but, shoot, I'll say it again anyway.

There's the word "anachronistic" for images out-of-time (the Roman soldier wearing a wrist-watch, e.g.) but I'm lacking a word for out-of-place i.e. the lady's apparel and slightly out-of-context (the tripod - but no cam).

    Well done!

    I like it John.

If she's anything like my tripod carrier it's good you did not include the face because there's always a scowl on my other halfs when given that task

Love the image John, B&W works really well and the slight breeze blowing her hair and dress adds an extra element to the photo

I really like it as well, a serendipitous moment, captured with nice exposure & the final twist in the tail, when the viewer realises it is a tripod under her arm.
    Nicely done
