Hey guys, regarding the auto-focus, I have a question here. Whenever we set our camera to auto-focus, can we still rotate the lens focus ring? I am using Nikon D5000, 18-55mm lens. Your contributions is deeply appreciated. Thx!

Not familiar with the Nikkor lenses, but if it has full time manual focus(It should say this in documentation) you can MF in AF mode.
On that lens, I think not, I believe the switch on lens barrel is marked "A" and "M".
Most recent Nikkor AF-S lenses are marked "M/A" and "M", these can be manually focused while in AF mode ("M/A"), turning the ring takes it out of AF until you next release and re-apply the half press of shutter button.

Dave (Mr Humphries) is right, so is Shadowman.
Your lens should perform similarly to this 85mm f/1.4D (Youtube video).
Edit- hmm, my second sentence is not showing up...
