Six of the Best - 21 June 2010 - Nelson Airfield

6 of the best shots from my walk around the airfield this morning. Quite a moody / misty morning, so I've tried to reflect that in the processing of the shots. The other thing of note was a little "mini-rainbow" that just hung there for the whole time (at least an hour and a half) ... never seen anything like it in my life!

    Hope you enjoy

    PS: All shot with EF 70-200 F2.8L IS USM II + 2x TC @ 1/2000th @ F5.6

    Thanks Sahil,

Back in my flying days I had enough hours and had passed enough written exams (except one, which I missed by 1 question!) to have legally been able to be a co-pilot on aircraft like that -- would still prefer jets though

    Ouch!
A nerdy friend of mine, appeared for an exam and go his results yesterday. He couldn't make it by .25 marks. He scored 59.75.
AND he didn't have a book to study for it He had gone absolutely unprepared for it

Ha -- so he should have done 10 minutes study!

Really nice set, especially 'Ready to Serve' which brings back memories of when I was thirteen and three quarters on my first camp at RAF Thorney Island being wowed by the sight of a line of tails of Hercules aircraft shimmering in the evening sun.

    Thanks Steve,

I'd love to be "let loose" on a military base with a camera now, but I don't think it's going to happen anytime soon, unfortunately

I don't think they allow camera's on military airfields Colin; I had a friend who had his camera stamped on by the military police called 'snowdrops' over here, at RAF Coningsby.

Apparently the aircraft that are photographed are always the same ones, don't know if it's true though.
