Abandoned Orphange
Hi all, haven't been posting much but have been on here constantly. Any ways two weeks ago my best friend and I went for a 3 hr drive to check out this abandoned orphanage. And it is n awesome place, and creepy to explore at night but was so AWESOME that we had to come back a week later through out the day time to photograph it. I wish I had used my tripod to keep the ISO low, but I still got a fair few keepers! Im curious to see what you fine gents and ladies think.

Re: Abandoned Orphange
An interesting series of images of what looks to have been a pretty austere place even in its prime.

Of all the images you posted I find #12 the most interesting.

Stark and very evocative. An interesingly curated set of images. Probably would be quite powerful in black and white.

#12, 18, 20 and 21 stand out to me. The hand stains on the door could be made to look like a horror movie scene given the right treatment also the mattress and blankets attached to the wall shot is one that could be worked on.
Nice series Allen

Re: Abandoned Orphange
Nice images, I do like that one through the broken glass.
But I would definitely try this in black and white.

Re: Abandoned Orphange
The whole place evoked a very sad feeling for me...I don't know why...never seen, never been ... on an orphanage before, nor do I intend to see one as I will end up crying or taking all the babies and adopt them all...and would be hurt to leave them behind, but then I might not be able to live a "normal" life...I'd like to have some fun too...

Re: Abandoned Orphange
Allen, a terrific series. It evokes dramatically conflicting responses as I go through them. I suspect the building's history is what creates some of the more sombre feelings, Had I not read your commentary in conjunction with looking I think my perception of the series would be different.
That said, these are excellent and I would echo other peoples comments about B&W conversion. You said you found the site very eerie in the evening and I suspect that will come back strongly in B&W.
