Very nice colin. You have some beautiful mountains there. I'll trade you a few hours of mountain breeze for some 90 Deg. and 100% humidity.

Beautiful set to see on your screen first thing in the morning. Makes the day worth getting up for.

Excellent shots, Colin. I like the bird - very good composition. And the silhouette is very effective. Black stump has a wonky horizon, I think.

Only 200mm on a full frame camera and get a fantastic pic of a bird, they are not so helpful round where I live.

    Thanks Rob,

I didn't check the horizon, but having just looked at it now, it's probably as it should be because the shore at the right hand side of the image is much further away than it is on the left of the shot, so my slight elevation causes things further away to rise up the image.

    Thanks Steve,

Herons tend to be quite nervous birds, so I figured it would probably bolt sooner rather than later - so I was standing as close as I could get to the water "zoomed in and ready to go". It's quite heavily cropped, but that's the advantage of having 21MP

Very nice series. Such a deep, dark shadow from the tree stump.

Nice series, Colin. I love the silhouette of the wind-sock: it captures a sense of perfect calm to start the day.

    Cheers,
    Rick
