    Jupiters moons

Nothing special by any means but I was pretty pumped to be able to pick up a few of Jupiters moons, would be keen to see if anyone else has some other images of our celestial night show.
    Cheers, Greg

Very nice. You got Venus in there as well (how could you not considering how close they appear to each other at the moment)

Just the Sigma 150-500mm @ 500mm Donald, pretty heavily cropped

Hmm...150-500mm that is interesting...I saw two planets this morning at around 3-ish so I thought it was Venus and Regulus...Brilliant shot! Might give astrophotography a try with my lens...when the weather is better...thanks for the inspiration.

Hardest part is trying to get the subject sharp. I use manual focus and zoom right in with live view, tiny adjustments and when the object is at its smallest, no halo that's the time to shoot. You will be surprised how quickly they move across the screen. I forget my settings, I think ISO 800 largest f stop possible and around 1 second shutter

Make yourself a barn door tracker. Finding the Celestial South Pole is much harder than Celestial North, but how to do it is out there along with many ideas on DIY barn door trackers.

I would love to shoot this type of stuff, but alas, I'm in light pollution central. Even shooting out to sea from shore fills the frame from all of the coastal lights.

Haven't hear of a barn door tracker Jim but I will check it out tonight.
Would you be jealous to know I took this shot from my backyard

I wasn't even going to go there, but now that you've mentioned it YES! And your Milky Way view? The backbone of night.

Four is good. Now for a challenge. If the Witch Head Nebula is in your skies go for it. From a dark site with an 8" reflector it is distinct.
