The fountain is a nice postcard shot. On the other hand I really, really like the B&W rain shot. Umbrellas, some without, reflections in the water, it has a great feel. The guy foreground left, looking over his shoulder, very nice. I like this shot. Great conversion too, has a real sense of a rainy, overcast kind of day.
P.s. I'm so used to the grungy look of Manhattan...especially when it rains, this looks like a movie set, so clean, neat and tidy. Looks like a lovely city.
Both shots are very nice. I to especially like #2 very nice example of street photography!
Seeing as how it was (presumably) cold as well as wet in the second shot did you drop in to the Nespresso store just out of shot on the right for a free cup of coffee?
It's a good city style street image as well nicely done.
Hi Graham....thanks.........and you must known Adelaide as you know about the * Nespresso * store on the corner, but I did not drop in yesterday, I do not know about a free cup of coffee, did they hand out a free cup to you ? I made my way to Haighs chocolate store, always my weakness, do you know this store too ?
Griddi.......
I love going to Haighs' chocolate for a small fix...then I suffer all day (I am allergic to chocolate but I eat a small bit anyway...)
Moving on...I like everything that Jack said about #2 shot. So +1 to Jack's comment. I was particularly looking closely at Allan's music store as I used to go to one in Burke St., Melbourne side, buy all my music sheets there and also two guitars and a keyboard. I like the weather of Adelaide during winter...
Both good shots especially #2.
Nice set, I would say you needed to get closer in the second, but that would put you right in the rain.![]()
I like the 2nd shot too, Griddi.
But Adelaide? The City of Churches ... I seem to recall spending a week in a casino there one Sunday night...
#2 for me too, nice composition and conversion![]()
Hi Izzie.....thank you for your comments, yes, the winter weather in Adelaide is a bit better than the weather in Melbourne, but at the moment, I find it a bit to cold for my liking, not to good to read about your to be allergic chocolate, but then you are getting less calories
Here is a photo of the Haighs store in Adelaide.......
Greetings,
Griddi.......
Griddi, I like the building where Haigh's is much better...looks like the old style building...must have been there for a long time...pity you lost the top of the building...such a beautiful structure...
Izzie....I was straight away not happy to loose the top of the building, even before I pressed the shutter, but it was on a Saturday early afternoon, looked it would be rain soon ( it did ) I was standing on a corner, and had literally non stop people * running * into my vision........next time I will select a different location, but this will have to be on the middle of the road, otherwise I can not catch the top of the building......I did this some years ago, and did not get run over by cars......so there is hope
Griddi.......
If you go in there's a coffee bar down the back of the store where they give out free samples of their coffee flavours -just choose the one you want to try. In fact you can try more than one.
I discovered this when I was down there for the Tour Down Under in January this year![]()
