Canon printer problems

Just purchased a Canon MG 7560 injet printer and went through the usual setup as I have done many times with many printers, no problems so far, then this happens.



The ink simply won't dry on the Canon Photo glossy plus 2 paper. It will print fine on standard paper and matte photo paper and Im have tried all the usual head cleaning, aligning.
I'm no dummy when it comes to setup and have adjusted everything I can think of, even found a setting to lengthen dry time in the printer options so before I take it under my arm back to the place of purchase I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this sort of issue.

I had a similar problem a few years back with my Epson printer, using Ilford Galerie papers. It turned out the I was using pigment inks which were incompatible with specific paper types (suitable for Dye based inks.)

Greg...I have recently turned to using CISS (Continuous Ink Supply System) on my Epson printers and use archival inks. The cost is minimal compared to the OEM ones that came with the printer. I never have a problem since.

I use canon printers since a long time (actually among others a MG6350), I never experienced something similar.
First remark: the printer is a monday model (as we call it in German): immediate return to the seller
Second remark: the photo paper is a fake.

Email Canon support. I have found them very responsive.

I have used three different Canon dye-based printers, always with OEM inks, and I have never experienced anything like this with any paper from at least four companies, so I can't offer concrete suggestions, but the Canon reps may be able to. And if it is a setting, it will save you time compared with sending it back.

Odd. I have the 7550 which I assume is similar, and have had no problems with Canon inks on Canon papers, including Glossy Plus II . Suspect you must have a bad batch of something somewhere.

Thanks all for your replies. I will give Canon a ring but I suspect I might have a Monday model as Erwin suggests. I have been using Canon printers for years and this is the first time I have come across this problem and just as a test I printed from my other Canon MP 640, same paper very different result and by the way the ink is still wet on the one on the right.

We have 3 Canon inkjet printers and I have had a very similar problem to you but with a Matte A4 paper I get for next to nothing from a large chain discount store. I had a couple of packs of 40 sheets, from different stores, which did exactly what you have experienced. As they are only £2 ($3) per pack I wasn't too bothered as the store staff are not employed for knowing anything much about anything other than stuffing the right good in the correct place on the shelves. The problem happened on all three printers and all three printers were working perfectly on other papers. I would suspect the papers if I were you before the printer.

I think you might be right Keith.
I took the photo's into the store this morning, still not dry, and they said just bring the printer back and we will exchange it.

Anyway, new printer, same problem so onto Canon support, they had never heard of this issue and have handed it onto tech support who I will hear from in due course.
It's no big deal to me at this stage, I'm more interested to see what the problem is. Canon printer using Canon ink onto Canon premium photo paper ?

I've not had this problem with my Canon printer (MG7150), but have had problems with its paper handling ability. In spite of Canon saying it will handle paper up to 300gsm, if I use anything above 240gsm any resulting A4 borderless photo print comes out with an unprinted 3mm white band on the trailing edge. I raised this with Canon some time ago and there response was, "Are you using Canon paper." Yes I was, but surely any paper with a given weight should behave in an identical manner. i have raised this issue again with Canon through the official channel and have never had the courtesy of a reply. I have now standardised on a Permajet 240gsm paper, but nothing heavier.

I am thinking that Erwin's idea of the paper being a fake might be true. I had a HP Inkjet printer prior to my Canon Pixma Pro 9000 Mk II and tried using some of the left over HP paper with the Canon Printer. The results were quite similar to what you have experienced.

I have not had any problems with Canon papers or with papers made for compatibility with Canon printers.

Problem sorted.
Received a new pack of photo glossy 2 paper from Canon in the mail today and the print quality was perfect and the colour accuracy between what I see on screen and the printed version is almost negligible, maybe just a little lack of depth in the blacks but other than that the best prints I have had from a printer.
The problem can be only put down to a bad batch of paper.
